Great food and cozy atmosphere. Never lets us down. BYOB. Liquor store inside of restaurant in case you forget.

I've enjoyed the food at Village Gourmet for years. Bring your own wine to enjoy with a great meal but if you forget, they do offer bottles for sale in their wine shop.

Nice byob that actually sells alcohol on site. Food is decent and service is usually great. Cozy little restaurant with somewhat private back room for parties.

One of our favorite restaurants. Amazing service and food. Also try owner Bobby Wings other restaurants Taos, Big Bowls Little Plates, and Delmonico equally as amazing!

I went here on a date night with fiancé. Romantic spot. Good vibe music. I had their general taos chicken, darn good! Good service and great food. I will definitely come again.

Generally, food is alright, I haven't found anything so unique or delicious I can't live without though. Often service or food is not consistent, which is great when there's a unique dining experience every time you go. Usually, though, this means the food prep quality has decreased.

Always a very good dining experience whether it be lunch or dinner.

Great server, but unfortunately the kitchen seems to lack competency as not only was simple dietary instructions not followed but food had missing ingredients like salads was missing squash or meats like prosciutto were changed with bacon without being informed. And mistakes made weren't rectified with offering the customer other solutions or fixes. Very disappointing experience for our first time. But cudos for the server for trying even though the management end failed.

Menu is extensive and the food is good. This is an excellent place to come when you have a group with different tastes because everyone can find something. It's BYO and there is a wine shop inside! I am crazy about the hot dipping sauce that comes with the bread. Friendly and attentive wait staff. This place is also huge but seating is spread out in several sections so wherever you sit is cozy and feels intimate.

Probably in the top 3 favorite restaurants in the area. Food is superb. My wife and I have loved everything we tried. Service is good. Reasonably priced.Great atmosphere- mostly couples, not loud or anything the times we've been there. Would definitely recommend!

It's been hit and miss recently. The food isn't bad but doesn't blow you away. Love the hot pepper oil and general to chicken. Service is improving but generally just average.

I went into the Village Gourmet on a whim and was greatly impressed by menu selection and whole presentation. Couched on the corner of Park Avenue, Village Gourmet's cozy interior feels very homey and the menu offers a very wide selection of dishes catering to every taste. I had the Blackened Cajun Platter which offered steak, chicken and shrimp, in the event you can't decide. The interior also contains a liquor store where you can buy the beer and wine for your meal, circumventing dry town laws.

I had a lovely lunch here - the sandwich was flavorful and full of fresh veggies, the soup was simple but delicious. I'll definitely be back.

Try the spicy marinara sauce! You will not be let down!!!

Unique and charming decor. Interesting fusion of cuisines. Try the General Tao's Chicken. You wont regret it.

A go to date night spot! Cozy atmosphere and yummy food. They have delicious pastas and I also really enjoy their grilled vegetable Caesar salad with blackened shrimp.

Service was slow, but food was pretty good. Got there at 2:00 and was there until almost 5:00. Ridiculous.

Food was really good, decor and music were also very nice touch; but I have to say our server was not attentive at all. She took forever to get our drink order, food order, and to remove empty plates and glasses off the table; which is small to begin with. It wasn't that busy, so don't think there's any excuse. Overall the place is really nice and food is great! Can't wait to go back! Swordfish dumplings!!! Yum!

Our fillet mignon was 1/4 inch cut T-bine steak. If it wasn't 23$ for 2-3 shrimp and thin steak I wouldn't complain, but man...

Thursday's - Taos Chicken - enough said! Have only had lunch there (many times), but very reasonably priced for lunch, great atmosphere, good service. 6 people for a sit down lunch for $51 dollars - can't beat it!

Get the general taos. Their other menu items are good also.

This used to be our favorite restaurant but the food has changed. The last few times we ordered food to go and when we got home were really disappointed. Disappointed to the point where we considered driving back to return it and would have sent it back had we been dining in. But the hassle of dragging our kids back out was what kept us from doing so. Our pasta was dry and barely had any sauce or flavor. And the blackened chicken tasted as though it was just grilled longer for the color. The first time we thought it was just a mishap so we thought nothing of ordering again. We had been going to this restaurant for years but with small kids now we resorted to ordering food to go. But this has happened three times. We're really disappointed and probably won't be dining in or ordering from here anymore.

Great place to bring a date and it's super cozy and because Rutherford restaurants don't have alcohol licenses, they have a liquor store right next store so you can BYOB anything and everything you want. Great food and location!

I'm here right now...the food has no pre-seasoning and the wait time is excessive. Won't come here again.

Went here for a double date with my in-laws and really enjoyed the food here. We had a great meal and the atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable!

My girlfriend and I really liked ours meals and the Wine shop had alot of good stuff. They have outdoor seating in summer too which i like. Cons are tables are really close together and the staff is young, slow and don't give a crap. I have been back a couple of times because the food is very good.

Atmosphere is great & service good. I recommend their general tso which I believe is there signature dish but I took away 2 stars because I got their chef salad and it was the worst if ever eaten. Mostly old ice berg lettuce with little tiny circles of low quality ham and turkey.

One of our favorite places for years, but we went there today and it is closed permanently. We will miss it!

Romantic and cozy, this is one of the best Rutherford restaurants. It's BYOB, but also has a cute little wine shop in the middle of it. Definitely great for a date night- all kinds of food available, including vegetarian friendly options.

I want to describe the menu at Village Gourment as quintessentially American. It's not entirely tied down to one specific type of food, and mixes up different dishes in an inoffensive way. The decor is quaint, the portions are sizeable, and the prices are affordable. Circumventing the dry town regulations, there is a liquor store in the middle of the restaurant. It's pretty novel.

General Tsos Chicken takeout special on Thursday is my go to!! Spicy beef tips and rock shrimp are two of my favorite apps.

Hot pepper sauce is great
